Green Lantern Review by Arminies/DCUO Podcast
Now the movie starts and has a HUGE epic fell to it, it quickly gives you a overview of the Power of will and how and why the Green Lantern core was formed. The 1st 10 minutes of film area a absolute wonder and the high point of the film, after this its a SLOW and painfull decline into the relm of mediocrity and less wonder then established by recent films like Thor who by not even Trying has a bigger Galactic feel then this entire film. We are quickly introduced to Abin Sur (purple dying alien as Hal puts it) & (one of my favorite Green Lanterns) and about all you see and know of him is Sinestro later on telling you how he was one of the best lanterns, but all you wil see is everything that was shown in trailers. thats about it, a total screen tiem of 2min tops. During this we also got the introduction of Paralax the entity which feeds on the power of FEAR and while donig so looks liek a giant turd swirling in my toilet after a good day at teh gym that has a high intake of protein. Its not pretty and you dont want to remember it but you watch it swirle and stay there. The stuff between him and Carol Farris (Blake Lively) through the whole movie felt so forced and stupid i wanted to just paly Plants Vs Zombies the entier time, and there is a overkill on that aspect of the story. WE want to see the epic stuff from the trailers yet we are forced to get 3-5min bantering scnes with her trying to act and him pullnig something out of a Dance Cook joke catalogue of shame. He gets the Ring goes to Oa and here is the best part of the film, we see the Corp members. and if you have seen the trailers thats ALL you will see of 99% of them, raise their rings and thats it. we are not introduced to Toma-Re and Kilowog who are there to Teach him to use his abbilities along with some teachnig from Sinestro (Who is by far the best preformance by a landslide) then we get Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) experiment on Abin's body he gets infected with fear and eventualy his head looks like a testicle who is suffering from a huge cae of elephantitis. He is made out to be the bad guy hee but its not really his fault or doing and waht hapen to him you cant help but feel bad for the poor shy guy who never had a chance, instead you simpothise with him (at this point 3 peopel already walked out and never came back) The Speccial effects are a mixed bag, Oa looks good and what you see from the trailers is all you get.Mixed Up Spelling - News

Modokker Book Picks: Book review: Nightfall by author Ellen Connor
I have never read a post apocalyptic book before. This is my first and it's technically a paranormal romance. The author Ellen Connor is actually the pen name for two authors, Ann Aguirre and Carrie Lofty. Until this book i have never read any of their books either. Lots of firsts for me then with this book. Here is a little bit of a blurb to get you started. When five strangers appear, desperate to escape the bloodthirsty packs, Jenna defies her protector and rescues them. As technology fails and the old world falls away, Jenna changes too, forever altered by supernatural forces. To fight for their future, she and Mason must learn to trust their instinctive passion–a flame that will see them through the bitter winter, the endless nights, and the violence of a new Dark Age First i have to admit i had a hard time reading this. I spent some trying to figure out why that was. I really enjoyed the book the writing was excellent. I don't recall seeing any spelling mistakes or names mixed up or things that didn't make sense. The story was really good and action packed and full of suspense. I like that in a book but i think part of the problem was the suspense. I was afraid to find out who might get killed. In this book people get killed. I was surprised by one death and afraid a couple times for other characters. I read some every day for four days but each day i set it down and picked up a comfort read to wind myself down from it i guess. lol Usually i read a book in one to two days. I loved John Mason the hero of this book and i equally loved Jenna Barclay the heroine. I really liked the first 50 pages that kind of intro the characters and the book and then it started getting heavy. There is no really way to guess how this story is going to go and so it keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering, "What's next"? On the edge right up until the end. I look forward to the next two books in this series. I peeked and they will have characters from the first book in them.
