SummerFest was a community success

We’d like to take the time to thank the Fergus Falls community for helping make Fergus Falls SummerFest 2011 a success.  From food vendors, crafters and merchants, performing artists and non-profit groups, the whole community was involved over the weekend.  We’d like to thank the Kiwanis, Boy Scouts and Make Difference groups for volunteering their time.  The board needs groups like these to give their time in order for things to run smoothly. A festival like this cannot happen without support from the entire community.  All the funds to run this event come from local businesses willing to sponsor SummerFest.  The board is comprised of community members who represent their business.  This year’s  board was represented by Erik Johnson, Applebee’s;  Tim Brinkman, Otter Tail Tel Com;  Mike Thorson, Cornerstone Countertops;  Leanne Meis, The Flower Mill;  Jeff Legge, Otter Tail Power;  Steve Gundersen, Thrivant Financial for Lutherans; Allyson Norgren, American Federal Bank;  Julie Gray, Midwest Insurance; and Margo Denbrook, Lake Region Healthcare. If you have questions or would like to get involved with SummerFest 2012, please contact us at ffsummerfest@yahoo.com.  Community business sponsors are listed on our website at www.fergusfallssummerfest.com.  Make sure to “Like” us on Facebook for year round updates. Farmer's market freshens up Oviedo

Crafters and other artists and vendors will not be part of this event. "This is an event that will keep a very home-town, small-town feeling to Oviedo, even though the population has increased so much," said Rawlson. Likewise, right next door in Winter

DCWV Acquires Blue Moon Beads - PaperCrafter's Corner

[DCWV] has acquired  the assets and intellectual property of Blue Moon Beads, a supplier of fashion forward, hand-crafted beads and jewelry based in Southern California .  Offering a wide array of high quality and exotic beads and coordinating components from artisans based around the world, Blue Moon Beads will operate as a division of DCWV Inc. and continue to operate a large portion of the business from its California offices. As we continue to see paper crafters become more interested in a wide variety of crafts and materials, I can see how this might be a natural expansion of the DCWV brand. Though we paper crafters think of DCWV as primarily a "paper" company, they actually describe themselves as selling into the "paper crafting, scrapbooking, home decor, and stationary markets." With the recent constriction of the traditional scrapbooking industry, more and more of the paper crafting companies are exploring ways to reach a wider audience and diversify their product lines. For example, at the May 2011 International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City, several "paper crafting" brands including Cosmo Cricket & BasicGrey exhibited fabric lines. With CHA Summer 2011 just around the corner, I find myself wondering what other similiar expansions and diversifications we might see!
