Eddie Money Mourns 'One More Soldier'
If you’re an old person, Eddie Money’s “Two Tickets to Paradise” might have been one of your favorite songs back in the ‘70s. If you’re a slightly less old person and grew during MTV’s heyday, you certainly remember “Take Me Home Tonight” with Ronnie Spector in the video. Fact: Eddie Money has made awesome music in his career, some of the best turn-up-the-radio songs in the history of rock.
“One More Soldier” is Eddie’s new single and his tribute to our fallen troops. 100% of the proceeds from the song will be donated to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. And let’s not dispute his good intentions here. Sure, Eddie needs the publicity and, yeah, the song sounds a lot like pretty much ever other “remember the troops” track recorded by old rock artists who want to give you a reminder that they still exist.
What would happen if Coldplay or Katy Perry or Lil Wayne or Taylor Swift donated all the proceeds from their next single to a high-profile military charity? What if it was a song that was actually going to be a hit right now and generate both the money and the attention a real hit can generate? That would be interesting. But, still, thanks Eddie Money. The gesture is appreciated and you got us to write a post about the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Good work.
