Law360, New York (August 18, 2011) - An owner, on Thursday filed a class action in New York accusing JPMorgan Chase Bank NA to provide mortgage "illusory" programs for loan modification as a way to get more money out of them.

Plaintiff Linda Ross several claims related to mortgage arm of the bank promised to change struggling mortgage borrowers if they would "payments trial" and seized on them anyway.

The loan modification program was a program for owners who were near underwater on their mortgages to make payments they would not otherwise have done, says Ross.

JPMorgan joins several other banks that have faced similar suits in the wake of the collapse of the housing market.

"Use of the defendants proposals illusory loan modification is fraudulent and misleading," said the costume.

Ross dealt with JPMorgan EMC Mortgage unit after the economic turmoil in the Inland Empire region of California where she lives, makes it impossible to maintain with its $ 3,300 monthly mortgage payment, she said.
